The 13th Wolf Guards is an online gaming guild originally from Mech Warrior. A core group of members migrated to Astro Empires and brought the guild with them, including Ruckis, former guild master of both the Mech Warrior and AE guilds and still undisputed leader of 13th as a whole, XFracture, Ruckis' brother and original diplomat of 13th, Halo, the current guild master of the AE guild, Fear, Fordbum, Strikewolf and others. 13th is accounted one of the best fighting guilds in Alpha based on past performances. 13th is currently first in fleet and level on Alpha. The 13th Wolf Guards also bears the distinction of being one of the few Astro Empires guild to spawn branches on every server to date, though the Alpha guild is the only official branch of the original guild.

Formation
After the 13th Wolf Guards decided to make the move to Astro Empires, the core members first joined CLS. The CLS leadership understood 13th viewed themselves as a separate guild from the beginning and agreed to provide protection and a place to learn the game. Even in these early days, the 13th established a reputation as fierce fighters, and were known as the fighting wing of CLS. The 13th Wolf Guards formed as an independent AE guild in the fall of 2006 with thirteen members led by Ruckis.

From its inception, 13th has disdained pacts and alliances, preferring instead to rely on its fighting skill and friendships for survival. A friendship with 13th is often taken more seriously by 13th than any pact. Early in its history, 13th formed a friendship with the Rainbow Llamas, a highly colorful and controversial guild, which is still in existence. 13th has gone to war several times in honor of this relationship.
To date, 13th has held only five pacts in its three year history, one of which is still in effect. The first pact was a MDP with CLS which lasted until the First Server War at which time it was canceled by mutual agreement. At this time 13th decided to stay out of pacts and did so for quite some time. The second was a Blood Pact with BORG. The third was a new Blood Pact with CoRM, which was held simultaneously with the Blood Pact with BORG for a short time. CoRM and BORG signed a NAP as a result of this. Soon after, 13th canceled its Blood Pact with BORG. At about the same time 13th joined the LPN, a large conglomeration of mostly small guilds formed for mutual protection from farming by large guilds. Recently, the pacts with CoRM and LPN were canceled and a few weeks later a pact with Umbrella Corporation and OO was announced. Despite these pacts, 13th primarily goes to war alone with the exception of server wars.
13th has consistently maintained a strict policy of forum silence during war time. As a result, 13th has reliably avoided flame wars and the kind of moral apologetics most commonly associated with Arverni of Trinity. Instead, 13th restricts its communications and negotiations to the private message system of Astro Empires, rather than the public forums, and maintains a genial respect for friend and foe alike. This policy has been an outstanding success, as 13th has maintained good relationships with most of the larger guilds in AE despite having fought almost all of them at one time or another. 13th remains well liked by the general population of Alpha server and has almost no serious enemies. Several guilds have begun emulating 13th's forum silence with equal success.
13th has found itself making friends of enemies quite often. From its beginning until the Second Server War, 13th stayed out of large conflicts, preferring instead to fight one on one. Even its participation in the Second and Third Server War was largely determined by 13th's own interests towards other participating guilds rather than a preference for a particular side. Almost invariably 13th has formed friendships with opponents in wars, with the notable exceptions of three successive wars with MORDOR and the war against CoRM during the Third Server War being the only times in its history 13th went to war to settle a pre-existing grudge. Yet even these two relationships are now marked by friendship, including a recent Blood Pact with CoRM and a new pact with Umbrella Corporation, or UCorp, an offshoot of MORDOR. In nearly all of its other conflicts, 13th has declared against guilds whose recent actions 13th found objectionable or declaring to aid allies and friends, and has ended the war without bitterness or any desire to further damage the opposing guild.
Despite being the aggressor in nearly all its wars, 13th remains well-liked and has many friends on Alpha Server. The most important reasons are 13th's emphasis on friendships and personal relationships rather than paper alliances, a commitment to good sportsmanship and respect for opponents, and a preference for acting on principle rather than for material advantage. Though a small minority has found issue with some of 13th's more recent maneuvers, such as the war against MaY, the general consensus, even from its critics, is that 13th is one of Alpha's most respected and honorable guilds. There can be no doubt that the 13th Wolf Guards has increased the level of sportsmanship on Alpha Server and made the game of Astro Empires more enjoyable for all.

Command Structure and Ranks
13th is run on the basis of a strict military meritocracy. Rank is earned by achieving high level as well as a high amount of experience. Ruckis is the General, the undisputed leader of 13th. However, he recently stepped down, passing command to Halo. His direct subordinates are Colonels, who are outside the ranking system of level and experience. Anyone of enough stature within the guild can be a Colonel. Following Colonel, the ranks are as such:

13th possesses some of Alpha's most well-known players. Ruckis, Dominion, Halo, and others are often in the fore of Politics and combat.
Recruitment is open, during peacetime, to a very limited number of players. Minimum level of 65 and sufficient experience and activity is required. Knowing someone in the guild is also important.

After its formation, 13th began recruiting and quickly climbed to the top fifteen.

13th has departed from being a middling strength guild to being a major military force since the Second Server War. Convincing victories over OO and Min have shown 13th capable of activity few guilds can match.
