»Fjórir«
Started by Army of Nobunaga, »Fjórir« rose to be the tightest knit group of players on the Delta server. Willing to take on opponents three times their size and keep fighting and talk smack even when the odds were against them, IV was a force to be reckoned with.
Unfortunately that which lives fast, dies hard, and IV was but a candle in the wind...
The Birth of the Viking Tide
IV was formed towards the beginning of the Delta server by Army of Nobunaga (known as Army of Valhalla on Delta). While it is unclear, due to conflicting stories, why Army of Nobunaga did not join WMD during Delta's birth, what is known is that IV was formed with the intentions of being a small, elite guild capable of holding its own against much larger enemies.
Recruiting almost exclusively from more experienced AE players across numerous servers, IV was initially a top 5 guild despite never numbering more than 50 players. Based primarily in D04, the guild also had a reputation for hitting anything not IV. It is also a theory that IV was among the first guilds to initiate the Fortress Galaxy Doctrine that Delta became famous for; D04 was IV's home, and any other guild's presence in that galaxy would not be tolerated.
Early Politics
Army of Nobunaga initially allowed very limited diplomatic overtures. This started off with a simple alliance with the guilds Merc, Horde, and LNL. This alliance was called the STFU Alliance. When this alliance splintered due to betrayals by LNL and Horde, Army of Nobunaga refused any and all future alliances with any other guild. This decision was to have disastrous ramifications later on for IV.
Policies
Guild rankings week by week were very common. A spreadsheet of previous levels of fleet, experience, and economy were kept; those members who did not grow fast enough in the fleet and experience departments were teased and forced to join the Pinky Pact sect of the guild.
IV was also notorious for their war policies. In order to secure D04, IV went to war with guilds such as 13th, FLEET, and NOOB; when these wars began to wind down, IV often made absolutely ridiculous (yet humorous) requirements for their enemies' surrender. Such requirements often included impossible quantities of alcohol (such as 3 metric half-stones of beer), llamas, and naked pictures of Abraham Lincoln. However, it should be noted that after these wars wound down, IV developed a productive relationship with 13th and NOOB, even going so far as to develop mutually beneficial defensive pacts in D04.
IV made no efforts to hide their contempt of Tarsonis (the former guild leader of LNL), LNL, AWE, FLEET, Penguins, and ORKZ. IV members routinely mocked Tarsonis and the members of those respective guilds; this contempt persists to this day, as former IV members sign Tarsonis up for gay dating sites and inform the Canadian police regularly that Tarsonis is a pedophile.
After the Fall
Former IV members maintain a very loose "brotherhood" and sense of camaraderie. They greet each other across numerous servers, and often refuse to fight each other, going out of their way not to hit known members' fleets regardless of server or conflict. This is due to the fact that it took no less than 6 guilds to kill IV, and while the guild may no longer exist, the spirit of war that it represented will last as long as AE does.
