Description

The ingame boards are what guilds generally use for quick, public communication. It is built into any guild. The maximum posts in 24 hours is 120. When this limit is reached, some users go back through the board and delete their old messages. When switching from another guild, the post count does not reset. The boards are divided into sections:

General

This is where members of a guild meet to just joke around, discuss wars and diplomacy, and is generally more loose. Some guilds don't use this board at all preferring to discuss things in private messages. Other only use this to talk among them selves. This protects the guuild if it is infiltrated by spies from another gathering too much information and yet it can also especially in larger guilds slow down the flow of information dramtically. A guild's leaders generally have rules for this board, but occasionally, a GM will have no rules.

Announcements

This is where anything that is important to the entire guild is posted. A special privilege is necessary to post here, so if there is something in the announcements, it's best to read it.

Combat

This is where battle reports are posted as soon as a battle has occurred. If a base belonging to a member of that guild has been occupied, the system will post the battle report automatically. In some guilds, members discuss battles posted here. In others, it is exclusively for battle reports. Very few do not require battle reports to be posted. Many guilds however do not like having their combat boards filled with UC battle reports and prefer that those reports are not posted unless they offer something of value.

The combat board does not however update automatically when the player attacks the choice of posting to the board lies with the player.

Trade

This is where players post trade routes that need to be filled. Generally, the template for posting is going into empire, then clicking trade, then copying all the info in there for the base that will be posted. It is common practice to include requirements with trade routes so that players know what you are expecting. Some guilds have trade masters to copy these trade routes and send them to friendly guilds to put on their trade boards. During times of war, the trade board is used for discussing tactics and strategy.

A few examples of requirements for trade routes (TRs) are

  • Unique - Where the player who wants to trade will be unique to the other raising the bonus (see trade routes for further information)
  • Similar Economy - where a player must have a similar economy on the base with the avilable trade route usually +/- 10
  • Long distance (LD) Where the player wishing to trade should have his base far away 2000+ or so this raises the bonus as well
