Beta Server

The second AE server to open on November 25th 2006. Beta is often compared to Alpha because of similar attitudes in regards to smaller players and guilds. Compared to the other servers, Beta has both the highest level averages but at the same time the fewest players of any of the servers. The stronghold tactic was first developed on Beta with the guild BOB taking and maintaining control of B47. This tactic, while not prominent in Beta, develops extensively in later servers.

Recently, Beta was embroiled in a 8+ month server war between RAGE and The Goonion. While there was much tension between the separate groups which comprise each coalition, the war officially started after accusations of guild leaders' having their accounts hacked by unidentifiable individuals. Current speculation rests on a user who wrote a widely used illegal fleet building application accused of sending and storing user login information on his server. No one has been officially named by the administration of Astro Empires as the culprit yet theories continue to dwell.

The war has since ended with harsh terms being enacted against the Goonion. Many blame the RAGE-Goonion server war for Beta's decline, being the server with the least amount of players and a declining player population.
